Filling the freezer in one go is one of the smartest ways to manage both your meat and your money, one delivery, weeks of dinners sorted, and a lower price per kilo than shopping little and often. But how much does it actually cost? Here's how to work it out.
It comes down to two things
Your total cost depends on how much your freezer holds and which cuts you choose. Rather than a single figure (which would be out of date the moment prices move), here's the framework we'd use:
- Work out your freezer space. A drawer, a full under-counter freezer and a chest freezer are wildly different. Meat is denser than you think, so measure realistically.
- Decide your mix. Everyday cuts (mince, chicken, sausages) are cheaper per kilo than premium steaks, so a family-friendly mix fills a freezer for less than a steak-heavy one.
- Price per kilo is your friend. Buying by the box almost always beats buying by the pack. Compare cost per kilo, not the headline price.
Why it saves money
- Bulk pricing. The bigger the shop, the lower the per-kilo cost.
- Fewer top-up trips. Each little supermarket run is a chance to overspend. A full freezer means you shop from home.
- Almost no waste. Portioned and frozen properly, nothing gets binned, and wasted meat is the most expensive meat there is.
Do it in one order
The easiest way is a box. Our meat boxes and family boxes are priced by the box so you know the cost up front, or build your own to hit your exact budget and freezer size. Buying for a big household or freezer? The bulk range brings the per-kilo cost down further.
